PalmRamon Rosselló-Mora, a scientist at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (Imedea, CSIC-UIB), has once again been included in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list in the Microbiology category. The ranking, compiled by the scientific consultancy Clarivate Analytics based on a bibliometric study conducted by the London-based Institute of Scientific Information, recognizes approximately 7,000 of the world's most influential researchers. They represent 0.1% of the global scientific workforce, and their work is among the top 1% most cited in their respective disciplines. Ramon Rosselló-Mora is one of the world's most cited scientists for the fourth consecutive year. This year, Rosselló-Mora is the only researcher from the Balearic Islands to appear on the list and one of 12 representatives from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). At the national level, only around one hundred scientists have been selected. The Highly Cited Researchers list is considered an international benchmark in the field of research, as it identifies scientists who, through their scientific output and global impact, have demonstrated exceptional influence in their fields of study. The ranking includes 6,868 individuals from 60 different countries and considers articles published between 2014 and 2024 that achieved a position in the top 1% of most cited articles in their discipline. The Imedea researcher highlighted the importance of this recognition: "Maintaining this level requires effort, and I believe it is positive to raise the profile of the research being conducted in the Balearic Islands and at the CSIC and UIB."
