Ryanair will only accept digital boarding passes from November 12.
The Irish company is moving away from paper, following the model of music festivals and sporting events.
PalmRyanair has announced that it will only accept 100% digital boarding passes starting November 12th, instead of November 3rd as previously reported, meaning passengers will no longer be able to download and print a physical boarding pass.
The change in date is intended to ensure a "seamless transition" for customers during the slower period following the mid-quarter holidays, the airline said in a statement. Sources at the Irish company stated that its decision follows in the footsteps of other ticketing industries, such as festivals, music, and sporting events, while also highlighting that it has "successfully transitioned to digital-only ticketing." Furthermore, nearly 80% of its customers already use digital boarding passes, it stated. According to the company's Marketing Director, Dara Brady, "Ryanair's move to 100% digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience for our customers, optimized through our 'myRyanair' app."
