This is the first strike to be called in the middle of summer in the history of the sector and has had a notable response from the workforce.

PalmThe indefinite strike by intercity bus drivers in the Balearic Islands continued this Saturday, its second day of protests, with no significant incidents, a minimum service coverage of 60%, and no new negotiation meeting between the employers and the Autonomous Union of Transport of the Balearic Islands (SATI), the organizer of the protest.

Union sources have assured EFE that the second day of the strike is 100% attended and have emphasized that, since talks with the Balearic Business Federation of Transport (FETB) were suspended on Friday, no new contacts have been made.

The latest meeting between strikers and management, held at the Arbitration and Mediation Court of the Balearic Islands, ended in a rupture. SATI blamed the "poor negotiating spirit" and the "arrogant and dictatorial" attitude of the management.

"The difference between us is economic and would amount to around 50 euros per year in 2027," explained union spokesman Juan Rodríguez on Friday, who also pointed to similar increases in subsequent years.

This is the first indefinite strike called in the middle of summer in the history of the public road transport service (TIB) and, according to the union, it has had a notable response from the workforce, with over 90% participation.
