Sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to murder her husband while he slept
Although the man woke up, his wife continued stabbing him in the chest, armpit, and right arm.
PalmThe First Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands sentenced a woman to six years in prison this Friday for attempting to murder her husband while he slept with their two-year-old daughter in Palma. The court issued a plea agreement after the parties reached a settlement before the trial. This reduced the prosecution's initial request for an 11-year sentence. In addition to the prison sentence—she has been incarcerated since the incident in October 2024—she has been stripped of her parental rights over their daughter for the duration of her sentence and must pay the victim €10,700 in compensation for the injuries and resulting trauma. The woman admitted that on the morning of October 19, 2024, at the family home in Palma, while her husband slept with their two-year-old daughter, she stabbed him several times in the chest with a large knife. Although the man woke up, his wife continued stabbing him in the chest, armpit, and right arm. At the same time, she put her fingers in his mouth and, when he began to scream in pain, she silenced him. At one point, the victim managed to wrest the knife from her and get the child to safety.
