SIAU requests disciplinary proceedings against two heads of the Ministry of Education
More than 600 people have signed a manifesto demanding accountability and an external audit.
PalmThe Independent, Autonomous, and Unitary Union (SIAU) filed a request this Saturday with the Ministry of Labor, Civil Service, and Social Dialogue to initiate disciplinary proceedings against two department heads at the General Directorate of Teaching Personnel and State-Assisted Schools. The union accuses those responsible of violating the principles of equality, merit, and ability in the recent allocation of positions to temporary teachers.
According to SIAU, the hiring processes have been fraught with "irregularities" and have caused "uncertainty and distressing personal situations" for hundreds of teachers. The union also denounces discrimination, dereliction of responsibilities, and union retaliation.
The demand includes the opening of disciplinary proceedings, the precautionary suspension of salaries and duties for both officials, and their removal from any matters related to SIAU to avoid conflicts of interest.
The union notes that more than 600 people have signed a manifesto demanding political and technical accountability and an independent external audit of the department's management. However, they explain, there have been no resignations or political dismissals so far.
