Storm in Mallorca: leaks in Son Espases and a drifting dumpster at the Coll

Mallorca is on orange alert for rain and storms and the 112 has already registered 70 incidents on the Islands

PalmaThe rains and storms affecting the Balearic Islands this Friday have left several incidents, including leaks in the resuscitation unit of Son Espases and a container that ended up adrift in the streets of Coll de Palma.

The 112 Emergency service has updated the Meteobal Plan alert and has raised the alert level to orange for rain and storms in Mallorca, while Ibiza and Formentera remain on yellow alert. Emergency services have recommended avoiding unnecessary travel and following self-protection advice.

At 3:00 PM, the Government had recorded 70 incidents related to the storm, none of which were serious. Of these, 54 had been registered in Mallorca – 11 in Palma and 10 in Felanitx –, 13 in Ibiza, 2 in Formentera and 1 in Menorca.

Among the most common incidents were 15 fallen trees, 10 obstacles or liquids on the road and 8 floods of public roads. The episode of rain and storms remains active and Emergency services ask to exercise extreme caution.
