The Council rectifies and reactivates the mental health program 'Flip Up'

PalmaThe Consell de Mallorca has rectified and reactivated the youth mental health program Flip Up after the entity 3 Salut Mental reported that an administrative processing error had prevented its continuity this academic year. The island institution has announced that the program will return to classrooms between late September and early October of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Flip Up. Turn your emotions around was launched last school year as an initiative to promote emotional well-being and mental health prevention among young people. During the 2025-2026 school year, it reached 4,007 students in 30 educational centers, with a total of 424 workshops. According to data from the Mental Health Federation, 213 students who participated ended up asking for help or emotional advice from teachers, counselors, or other professionals at the centers.

The continuity of the program had already been announced by the Council in June, but subsequently, the Administration informed 3 Salut Mental that it could not continue this year because the processing had not been done "within the deadline and in the appropriate form". The Federation demanded an urgent solution and also warned about the loss of jobs for the professionals linked to the project.

This Friday, after announcing that the program would not be cancelled, the Minister of the Presidency, Toni Fuster, assured that the mental health of young people "has been a clear commitment" of the current legislature and defended the results of the first year. Flip Up has worked, the centers and the young people have valued it very positively", he stated.

The Council is also already working on a new contract to tender the program with the aim of guaranteeing its continuity beyond the 2026-2027 school year and consolidating it within the institution's youth policies. The program had obtained a rating of 4.2 out of 5 among students and 4.6 among teachers.

The cancellation of the program sparked strong controversy within the island institution and in the social sphere. The PSOE described the situation as "inadmissible" and demanded that the program be restored immediately. MÉS, for its part, registered questions to clarify how it was processed, when the error was detected, and who is responsible for it.
