Strong storms and first floods in Mallorca
The intense rain has begun to leave the first problems on the island on a day marked by the orange alert

PalmaThe storms have already started to affect Mallorca this Wednesday and the rain is falling with intensity in several parts of the island. The first showers have left accumulations of water and the precipitation may continue to gain strength during the coming hours.
The situation is especially complicated because the downpours are very intense and concentrated in a short time, which can cause localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas, torrents, and points where water has difficulty draining. In some places, the precipitation is accompanied by strong wind and stormy activity.

Aemet maintains the orange alert for heavy rain and storms and expects that up to 40 litres per square metre could accumulate in one hour. There is also a possibility of hail and strong gusts of wind.
The authorities ask to exercise extreme caution, especially on the roads, and to avoid crossing flooded areas or approaching torrents and areas susceptible to water accumulation.

The strong gusts of wind and the accumulation of water on the roofs of the parking lot at the University of the Balearic Islands have caused damage, and some of the panels have flown off while others have fallen onto cars, causing much damage and leaving the area practically destroyed.
