Cort says that it could not "avoid" a third party buying Can Pesquet and acknowledges that it does not know what they will do there: "We will see"

PalmaPalma City Council asserts that it had carried out the necessary procedures to be able to purchase the Can Pesquet plot, in Son Sardina, but that in the end a private individual got ahead and acquired the property. The Council maintains that it could not "prevent" or "control" this operation and admits that it has not yet decided what steps to follow to try to resume the situation.

This was explained this Wednesday by the spokesperson for Cort, Mercedes Celeste, when asked about the situation of the plot. As she pointed out, the City Council had approved the credit modification needed to be able to make the acquisition, but "someone decided to get ahead".

"The City Council cannot avoid or control this," stated Celeste, who took it for granted that the plot is already the property of a private individual.

The spokesperson explained that the City Council will now study what actions can be carried out "to recover the situation". However, she did not specify what alternatives are on the table or whether the City Council maintains the intention to acquire the property.

"What is clear now is that the plot has been sold to a private individual. That is the situation we are in. I have nothing more to comment on," she noted.

Celeste insisted, however, that Cort will continue working to respond to the demands of the residents of Son Sardina. Asked about how it will do so, the spokesperson did not put forward any concrete measure: "How? That will be seen little by little," she said.

Cort does not plan to expand the terraces in El Born

During the same appearance, Celeste was also asked about the size of the terraces on the Passeig del Born. The spokesperson explained that they currently have about 32 square meters and defended that these dimensions were established in accordance with technical criteria.

As she indicated, the City Council does not plan to modify their size, since the zoning plan was drawn up with the goal of ensuring there is enough space for pedestrians to walk and circulate "without a problem".

A different matter is, according to Celeste, the possible non-compliance with regulations. In this case, she argued that the City Council must pursue them through inspections.

"When they are exceeded, we must impose the corresponding sanction," stated the spokesperson, who acknowledged that compliance with municipal regulations "is not always achieved".

The 125-euro price of the sun loungers at Cala Major

Finally, Celeste also referred to the price of the sun loungers at Cala Major, following the criticism generated by the cost of the service.

The spokesperson recalled that the 125 euros correspond to a premium package that includes two premium sun loungers, a parasol, and a safety deposit box.

In any case, she pointed out that if any entity considers that irregularities have occurred and wishes to file a complaint, the City Council will analyze the terms of the complaint and act accordingly.
