Orange alert

The heat wave continues unabated with new orange alerts.

After the 42 degrees reached this Sunday in the Balearic Islands, this Monday a temperature that could reach 39 degrees is expected.

PalmThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will activate an orange heat warning this Monday afternoon for inland and northern Mallorca, as well as Ibiza and Formentera, while the warning level will be yellow in Menorca and the rest of Mallorca. According to Europa Press, the orange warning will be activated at 12 noon and the temperature could reach 39 degrees. In the rest of Mallorca and Menorca, maximum temperatures could be between 36 and 38 degrees. The warnings will be in effect until 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, overnight minimum temperatures in Mallorca were recorded at 28 degrees in Capdepera, 27 degrees in the Alfàbia mountain range, and 26 degrees in other parts of the island such as Banyalbufar, Puerto de Sóller, and Portopí.

For this Tuesday, the Aemet (Spanish Meteorological Agency) expects the yellow warning to remain in effect between 12 and 6:59 p.m. for inland and southern Mallorca, with a maximum temperature of up to 36 degrees. Furthermore, a change in the weather is expected from Tuesday onwards, with increased cloudiness, a chance of precipitation, and a drop in temperature. There will be no temperature warnings on Wednesday, and temperatures will range between 29 and 34 degrees.

Authorities insist on the basic recommendations: avoid going out during the middle of the day, hydrate often, wear light clothing, and pay special attention to children and the elderly.

It should be remembered that this Sunday was one of the most intense days of the heat wave in the Balearic Islands and the hottest of the year, if there is no further information. The forecast called for highs between 36 and 41 degrees Celsius in Mallorca, occasionally reaching 42 degrees Celsius in inland and southern parts of the island, as well as in parts of Ibiza.

Atlantic air

Furthermore, the arrival of an Atlantic air front will mark the end of the heat wave in Spain this Monday, with a notable drop in temperature in the northwestern half of the peninsula.

This is evident from the Aemet forecast, which predicts a "notable" drop in temperature in the northwestern half of the peninsula. In any case, it warns that "significantly high" temperatures will remain in the southeastern half, as well as in parts of the Balearic and Canary Islands, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in the Guadalquivir and low pressure areas in the southeast.
