The apartment rented by the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) has been removed from Airbnb to highlight illegal tourist offerings in Palma.
The Consell de Mallorca has described the actions of the socialist Iago Negueruela as "not very serious and irresponsible".
PalmAirbnb has removed the listing for the tourist apartment rented by the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) from its website to highlight the existence of illegal rentals in Palma. The Tourism Department of the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca) reportedly requested the removal of the listing after a press conference held this Monday at the property by the Secretary General of the PSIB in Palma, Iago Negueruela.
However, the island institution described the actions of the former Tourism Councillor as "frivolous and irresponsible," emphasizing that the Council "never said that the illegal offerings had been eliminated," but rather that "they had been reduced" and that "thousands of listings" had been removed. "If the PSIB were truly serving society, they would fulfill their obligation to report illegal activity to the Council of Mallorca, instead of staging a media spectacle. Paying an illegal operator 160 euros is unacceptable," they maintained. In this regard, the Council of Mallorca indicated that it has an electronic mailbox for the Tourism Inspection, created by the previous administration, and stressed that "it works," as "100% of the complaints received" are addressed. They added that, therefore, "they should set an example with their own actions."
In this specific case, the Consell de Mallorca stressed that it "had already detected it" and was developing "the corresponding actions" but clarified that "no further details can be given due to the Data Protection Law".
