The Civil Society Forum accuses the Government of retaliating against it for its critical stance

PalmaThe Civil Society Forum has attacked this Thursday the Government's decision not to extend the collaboration agreement it had with the entity, in force until July 31. The organization considers the decision to be "difficult to understand", states that it had not received any prior warning about the functioning of the agreement and calls on the Executive to publicly explain the reasons why it has decided not to renew it.

In a statement, the Forum maintains that this decision could be a "reprisal" for its critical stance on the Government's policies. According to the entity, the non-renewal compromises its continuity, will lead to the disappearance of a job, and will cause "serious economic and organizational damage".

The organization points out that, during the monitoring committees provided for in the agreement itself, the Government did not convey "any complaint, warning or proposal for improvement". For this reason, it considers that the decision cannot be justified by technical criteria and calls for public explanations.

The Forum also warns that the Executive maintains similar agreements with other entities and points out that, if these are renewed, it would constitute "discriminatory treatment" towards organized civil society "without any objective justification".

The entity links the decision to its public disagreements with the Government in recent months. In this regard, it recalls that it suspended its participation in the Sustainability Pact because it considered it to have become a "technocratic" process, far removed from citizen debate. Likewise, it highlights its support for the demonstration held on July 26 under the slogan 'Mallorca, at the limit', convened to denounce the effects of mass tourism.
