PalmThe eviction of the illegal settlement of Can Rova 2 was carried out "peacefully and orderly" by the few occupants still there. In a press conference, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Carlos Roselló, explained that the "peaceful" operation began at 9:00 a.m., as "there were hardly any people left." "Everything is going as we had planned," he said.

First, the technicians ensured that all electrical installations were cleared, located the septic tanks, and confirmed that all the inhabitants had left and that no animals remained. They also removed 29 butane bottles, two truckloads of electrical and electronic equipment, ten batteries, three drums of oil, five gas stoves, two drums of fuel, as well as other hazardous waste, such as asbestos sheets and refrigerant gases.

The councillor has highlighted that, as confirmed by Social Services, during the operation no occupant has requested in situ assistance, although some people have later gone to the municipal offices in Puig d'en Valls, which will be reinforced to provide adequate assistance.

Roselló emphasized that around 40 members of the Civil Guard's Reserve and Security Group from Valencia are participating in the operation, in addition to Seprona officers, along with 15 local police officers and personnel from Social Welfare and companies contracted to remove accumulated waste, among others.

The operation also identified the vehicles found at the site to verify their condition. It was also confirmed that there were no animals on the site, according to Europa Press.

Subsequently, work began on demolishing the substandard housing. "Surely everything will be dismantled today, but removing the remains will take several days, since it is not done in any way, but must be done correctly," stated the councilor.

62 adults ask for help after eviction

On the other hand, the number of adults who have requested assistance from the Santa Eulária City Council's social services has increased from 43 to 63 following the eviction. According to data updated by the City Council in a statement reported by EFE, in addition to the 15 people—seven couples and one single woman—who are caring for 11 minors, there are 37 adults, including pregnant women and one person with a debilitating illness.

One week later

The eviction operation at the Can Rova 2 settlement took place this Tuesday in Ibiza, a week after the Santa Eulària City Council received a court order allowing it to restart the process.

The City Council noted that the eviction involves multiple departments, primarily Local Police, Social Welfare, and the Environment, and announced that, first and foremost, the "most precarious" supply lines, such as electricity, would be disconnected.

A few weeks ago, an explosion in a substandard home caused a fire in the Can Rova 2 settlement. The blaze burned a caravan, tents, and several buildings. The City Council considered this incident to highlight the "seriousness" of the situation in the settlement, which had already been reported by the institution due to the high risk of fire, electrocution, and health problems.
