The Fira B! returns to Palma with more than 80 proposals of music and performing arts
The fair will take place from September 30 to October 3 with about thirty scenic shows and from November 4 to 7 with nearly 60 musical performances
PalmaFira B! returns to Palma with an edition that seeks to connect music and the performing arts as parts of the same cultural ecosystem. The event, which reaches its eleventh edition this year, will offer more than 80 artistic proposals between the months of September and November, in addition to a professional program focused on the creation, mobility, and internationalization of artists from the Balearic Islands.
Under the slogan 'Fira B! Two disciplines. The same cultural landscape', the fair will be divided this year into two distinct events. The first will be dedicated to the performing arts, from September 30 to October 3, while music will take over from November 4 to 7.
The Government's Director General of Culture, Llorenç Perelló, has championed Fira B! as a "fundamental tool" to place the creation of the Balearic Islands within state and international circuits. As he highlighted, the goal is for artists and companies from the Islands to have "more connections, more opportunities, and more presence" outside the territory.
More than 30 performing arts proposals
The first part of Fira B! will concentrate more than 30 proposals for theater, dance and new scenic languages in different spaces in Palma.
The inauguration will be on September 30th at the Teatre Principal in Palma, with L’arquitecte, by Produccions de Ferro. The program will also pass through the Maruja Alfaro municipal theater, Ca n’Oleo, the Xesc Forteza municipal theater, Es Baluard, the Teatre del Mar, the Plaça de la Porta de Santa Catalina, the Basilica of Sant Francesc and Ses Voltes.
Among the scheduled proposals are L’amor, la set, Sacrifici, Crònica d’un mig estiu, Cyrano, Tres tristos traumes, Conhort, Bachata, Sa varietat en sa locura, Los muchísimos, Públic, Nus and Act of liberation: LOVE, among many others. Es Baluard will be one of the main meeting points for dance and new languages, with shows like Kea, Skai is ful, Basandere, Fearless, Cuerpo arquitectónico and Negro luz (work in progress).
The scenic program will also incorporate a focus dedicated to the Basque Country, the result of the collaboration with LABO XL, the festival of new spaces and scenic languages of San Sebastián. The international dimension will be completed with companies from France and Germany. In parallel, the Professional Days, which will take place on September 30th, October 1st and 2nd at Mar i Terra, will bring together professionals from the sector to address the creation, circulation and internationalization of the performing arts.
Close to 60 musical performances
The second major event will arrive in November with Fira B! Music, which will bring together nearly 60 performances of different styles and origins. The schedule will begin on November 4th at the Xesc Forteza municipal theater, with artists from the Balearic Islands and international proposals. On the 5th, the activity will mainly move to Es Gremi Centre Musical, with concerts distributed throughout its different venues. On November 6th, Es Baluard will host a new musical day with proposals from the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Occitania, and other international origins. The closing will be on November 7th at Motorworld Mallorca, with performances such as those by FAIXA - TROVAM, Pitxorines, Alex Fernet, The Crab Apples, Ra di Spina, Laura Marchal, Bon Jour, and Zulu Zulu.
Italy will be the guest country of this edition, with special attention to the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Apulia. The musical program will also reinforce the presence of artists from Latin America. Furthermore, on November 4th, the Xesc Forteza municipal theater will host the I Ibero-American Meeting of Jazz and Improvised Music, with professionals and institutions from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. With this new edition, Fira B! wants to consolidate itself as a meeting space for creators, programmers, professionals, and the public and, at the same time, reinforce the external projection of the cultural production of the Islands.
