The Government allocates 22 million euros to reimburse IB-Salut staff for salary freezes in 2020 and 2021
The measure comes after the TSJIB ruling following the STEI lawsuit, which requested the return of the 2.9% withheld.
PalmThe Governing Council has approved a supplementary credit of €22.3 million to cover payments to IB-Salut staff resulting from the execution of the ruling by the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands (TSJIB) regarding the salary freezes of 2020 and 2021. This follows the filing of an administrative appeal in 2021 against the Governing Council's Agreement of May 24, 2021, and the final ruling confirming that the salaries of these public employees were frozen without sufficient justification, considering the economic situation in Spain and the Balearic Islands at that time.
2.9% increase
On March 14, the Government began implementing the court ruling with an agreement that allows for the reinstatement of salary increases corresponding to 2020 and 2021 that were not applied at the time. Effective January 1, 2025, the agreement also reinstated the remaining salary components that were not updated during those years, such as the supplement for personnel serving the regional administration and its instrumental public sector entities. These updates represent a total increase of 2.9% in supplementary payments for public employees and began to be implemented with the March payroll. Furthermore, this Friday the application of the contingency fund foreseen in the 2025 regional budget was also approved to finance €16 million of the supplementary credit.
