The affected parties are now considering the possibility of filing a collective complaint against the National Police officers who participated in the operation. This was announced this Tuesday by one of the spokespersons for the platform Menys Turisme, Més Vida, Jaume Pujol, during the rally that brought together nearly half a thousand people in front of the government delegation to demand the resignation of the delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez.

“We have more than twenty injured people with injury reports, who had to be attended to at the hospital or in ambulances. More than ten people ended up with open heads, even though batons cannot be swung from top to bottom and, therefore, they should not have head injuries,” explained Pujol.

The spokesperson, representing the organizers of the Mallorca al límit demonstration, also expressed distrust towards the internal report being prepared by the National Police to determine if any officers acted disproportionately. “If the National Police is to investigate itself... I have serious doubts about the reliability of these reports,” he stated.

Pujol has denounced that the charges were “disproportionate” and that they occurred “without any kind of provocation” by the protesters. “We were simply reading the manifesto in the Parc de la Mar, where most people gathered because the Police would not allow access to Les Voltes. Then a group of six police officers arrived and charged against the people listening to the manifesto. We believe it was a disproportionate police operation,” he stated.

The spokesperson also questioned that the government delegate holds the police commanders who directed the security operation responsible for the events. According to him, this version does not match the explanations that the agents themselves gave to the organizers during the incidents. "What we can affirm is that, when we asked for explanations from the National Police, they answered that they were following orders from the Government Delegation," he concluded.
