Nearly 600 guests attended the Royal House event
PalmPrincess Leonor and Infanta Sofía participated for the first time this Monday in the reception traditionally held by the King and Queen at the Marivent Palace in Palma. Queen Sofía also attended the event, having traveled to Palma specifically to attend the event. However, a group of protesters also attended the event, gathering at the palace gates demanding its return to the town. The protesters displayed signs reading "Recuperem Marivent" and banners defending Catalan.
Nearly 600 guests attended the reception, including the President of Congress, Francina Armengol, who was the first to greet the royal family, followed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido, and the President of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens.
Among the institutional officials present were the Speaker of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne, and the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, as well as representatives of the island councils, city councils, and regional deputies and senators.
Several representatives of the islands' civil society also attended. Among them was former tennis player Rafa Nadal, who attended this event for the first time.
Likewise, some political representatives declined the Royal Family's invitation, such as the parliamentary spokesperson for MÉS for Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, and the Unides Podem councilor at Palma City Council, Lucía Muñoz.
