Sources from the Consell d'Eivissa confirm that the Maritime Captaincy is reviewing the boat, but explain that they do not have more information on the matter and continue to work with the prospect that the transfer will begin this evening. The forecast is that the first boat loaded with waste will arrive at the port of Palma today.

3,500 tons per month

The vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and head of Environment, Pedro Bestard, has traveled to Ibiza to supervise the operation. "There will be no inconvenience: the departure conditions are exceptional," he explained in statements to the media. As he explained, between six and seven trucks will carry out the import to the Son Reus incinerator, every evening, for five days a week. Nevertheless, Bestard insisted that this quantity represents "1% of the trucks that enter TIRME", the company responsible for waste management. "What Ibiza produces is what Mallorca produces in the month of February," he insisted.
