PalmControversy in Sóller over water resource management. During the drought, the town council has decided to indefinitely close the municipal swimming pool due to the town's water problems. However, the "surprise" came when residents discovered that the pool at the La Residencia hotel (in Deià, a municipality just 11 kilometers away) "remains open and without any restrictions or limitations," the residents criticized. In fact, tourist establishments are not directly affected by the water restrictions, and they only ask them to inform guests about responsible water use and recommend that they install water-saving systems.

Furthermore, it is worth remembering that this tourist establishment received a €25,488.65 grant from the European Next Generation funds to improve its "energy efficiency."

It was this Friday when the Solleric City Council announced that as of this Monday, "in compliance with the Mayoral Decree issued by the Sóller Town Council on August 29, 2025, and in application of the water saving and responsible use measures, the municipal swimming pools at the Son Angelats sports center will be closed." They also detailed that "subscriptions and fees will be offset during the month of October 2025, taking into account the closure days."

The Sóller Town Council has imposed other restrictions to alleviate the drought. Specifically, they prohibit filling new swimming pools, watering gardens, orchards and green areas, washing cars and boats and cleaning terraces, facades and streets (except in cases where it is done for health reasons). Regarding the internal changes the City Council will make due to the drought, they have announced that they will temporarily suspend irrigation of sports areas, suspend municipal water cleaning, and have also banned the use of public showers on the beaches.
