Provisional prison for the accused of killing her mother-in-law in Pere Garau

PalmaThe Palma court of inquiry has ordered provisional detention for the woman accused of killing her mother-in-law last Monday in the Pere Garau neighborhood. The suspect, 36 years old, remains admitted to Son Espases Hospital after her admission was recommended for psychiatric prescription.

According to sources close to the investigation, the judge questioned her this Thursday remotely from the hospital, after the National Police handed over the case file to the court.

The woman was transferred to Son Espases on Wednesday after undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. Sources close to the case indicate that, although her admission was recommended, she is not considered to be suffering from any serious disorder in principle. The detainee claims she acted in self-defense. On Tuesday, she participated, escorted by the police, in a reconstruction of the events at the home in Pere Garau where she and the victim, a 73-year-old woman, lived.

The events took place on Monday afternoon. It was the victim's son who found the lifeless body inside the apartment and alerted the emergency services. The first officers to arrive were members of the Local Police of Palma, who located the suspect near the building's entrance. According to the investigation, the alleged perpetrator allegedly went to her mother-in-law's room, where a struggle ensued. The victim received several blows that caused fatal injuries.
