The opposition criticizes the PP's "incompetence" with Palma's budget: "They leave less than two hours to review the project."
The PSOE Palma, MÁS por Palma and Unidas Podemos formally demand the modification of the budget presentation schedule
PalmThe municipal groups PSIB-PSOE, MÁS por Palma, and Unidas Podemos disagree with the budget processing schedule proposed by the governing team, which leaves insufficient time to review the accounts before the councilors' appearances begin. For this reason, they have submitted a proposal to modify the schedule of appearances to guarantee the opposition groups' ability to oversee the government.
Just like last year, the governing team has presented a schedule that allows less than two hours to review the 2026 budget proposal. The three political groups believe it is impossible to effectively audit these accounts in such a short timeframe. It is crucial to be able to review the documentation in order to request details on any points deemed relevant. These are not merely one-sided informational appearances; the other municipal groups have the opportunity to speak and, therefore, must be able to participate effectively.
The PP falls into incompetence once again
The PP government has once again demonstrated its incompetence by presenting such a tight schedule when there is absolutely no need for it, as the hearings could easily be held on another day of the week, always before November 10th, which is the deadline for submitting amendments. For this reason, the three parties are presenting an alternative schedule of appearances that adapts to the needs of the members of the corporation and to point 107 of the plenary's internal regulations. Thus, it is proposed that the hearings begin tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th, at 2:00 PM, once all the information has been received and can be reviewed with sufficient time. The three groups agree that this way of managing information by the PP government undermines the transparency and good governance to which all citizens of Palma are entitled.
