The second day of the doctors' strike forces the cancellation of more than 3,300 appointments and 95 operations in the Balearic Islands
PalmThe second day of the doctors' strike against the Marc Statute has led to the suspension of more than 3,300 appointments and tests and 95 operations in the Balearic Islands, according to data provided by the Balearic Islands Health Service (IBSalut).
Specifically, the strike has resulted in the cancellation of 1,307 primary care appointments and 95 surgical procedures. In outpatient settings, a total of 2,054 appointments, diagnostic tests, and radiological examinations were canceled on Tuesday. In total, between Monday and Tuesday, 172 surgical procedures, 3,469 primary care appointments, and 3,889 appointments, radiological examinations, and diagnostic tests have been canceled. Tuesday marked the second of the five days of the strike called by doctors, and in the Balearic Islands, participation was between 85% and 90%, similar to Monday's figures. The Balearic Islands Medical Union (Simebal) has highlighted the high level of participation in the first two days of the strike, noting that the figures demonstrate "the commitment and exhaustion" of the medical community. During the strike days, all urgent, oncology, and other non-postponable services are guaranteed, with reinforced minimum services to minimize the impact on the population.
