PalmThe second doctors' strike against the Framework Statute in the Balearic Islands has led to the cancellation of 75 surgeries, 1,933 consultations and diagnostic tests, and 2,130 primary care appointments. According to data from the Balearic Islands Health Service (Ib-Salut), 47 surgeries, 1,741 consultations and diagnostic tests, and 1,735 primary care appointments have been suspended in Mallorca. In Menorca, the suspended activity has affected 6 surgeries, 152 consultations and diagnostic tests, and 101 primary care appointments.
In Ibiza, the strike has led to the cancellation of 22 surgeries, 40 consultations and diagnostic tests, and 294 primary care appointments. These cancellations are in addition to the 76 surgeries, 1,742 consultations and diagnostic tests, and 2,140 primary care appointments canceled on the first day of the second medical strike of 2026, which began on Monday and will continue until Friday. The strike's impact has remained stable compared to Monday and has continued to have a "significant impact on healthcare," according to the Balearic Islands Medical Union (Simebal). As on the first day, the strike was particularly notable among resident physicians (MIRs) and staff in strategic hospital services such as Anesthesia, with a 95% participation rate at Son Espases University Hospital. In Mallorca, outpatient clinics saw numerous services affected, with an estimated participation rate between 75% and 80%. In Primary Care, the strike reached approximately 60%. In Menorca, participation remained between 70% and 75% in hospitals, while in Primary Care it reached approximately 45%. In Ibiza and Formentera, the strike's participation on this first day was around 70% in hospitals and 40% in Primary Care.
