The three-year-old child who drowned in a swimming pool in Santa Margalida dies
The minor, of Danish nationality, was admitted in critical condition at Son Espases after suffering an accidental drowning on Friday afternoon
PalmaThe three-year-old Danish child who had been admitted in critical condition to Son Espases University Hospital after suffering drowning in a swimming pool in Santa Margalida has died, according to health sources this Sunday.
The accident took place on Friday afternoon, around 4:30 PM, at a country house in the municipality that had been rented by several families. According to initial reports, the minor had climbed the pool stairs alone and fallen into the water without any adult noticing.
Upon noticing his absence, a family member found him submerged in the pool, pulled him out of the water, and immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of emergency services.
Agents from the Santa Margalida Local Police, Civil Guard officers, several 061 ambulances, and Civil Protection volunteers were dispatched to the scene.
The paramedics managed to get the minor to regain a pulse before being urgently evacuated. Subsequently, a medicalized helicopter transferred him to Son Espases, where he had been admitted in a very serious condition until his death was finally confirmed.
The Civil Guard is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
