New illegal settlement evicted in Ibiza
The National Police has dismantled the Venda des Coloms camp, on private land, after weeks of occupation and with about thirty precarious dwellings without basic services.
PalmThe National Police Force evicted this Wednesday the illegal settlement known as Venta des Coloms, installed on private land located in the vicinity of Can Misses Hospital and the Municipal Stadium Sánchez Vicario, in Ibiza. The operation was carried out without incident and with the voluntary departure of the last three people who resided there.
The eviction puts an end to an occupation that, according to police sources, had concentrated about fifteen people this Tuesday and had about thirty precarious structures, including caravans and shacks. The settlement lacked basic services such as drinking water or sanitation, a situation that had caused concern about health and safety conditions.
Technical reports also warned of several fire risk points due to the accumulation of waste and the presence of dry vegetation in an urban environment, as reported by the Superior Headquarters of the Police of the Balearic Islands.
The operation was led by agents from Ibiza and reinforced with personnel from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) deployed from Palma, with the collaboration of the Local Police of Ibiza and municipal social services. The latter have individually assisted the evicted people and referred them to the corresponding welfare resources.
The owner of the plot, who had resorted to legal action to recover it, has taken over the management of the space and now plans to proceed with the perimeter closure of the land to prevent new occupations.
