PalmaThe Menorca Fire Department rescued this Monday the body of a man between 60 and 70 years old who was floating in the sea at Cala en Brut, in Ciutadella, during the Adam DANA that punished the Balearic Islands and other parts of Spain.

The notice reached the emergency services around 6:00 p.m., on a day in which the 112 activated both yellow and orange alerts for rain and storms in Menorca and red in the rest of the Archipelago.

According to sources from the intervention, it was the Local Police officers who alerted the Civil Guard and the Menorca Fire Department, who deployed to Cala en Brut. The firefighters, aboard a rigid-inflatable boat, navigated to the area where the man's lifeless body had been found to rescue him and transport him to the port of Ciutadella. The sea, according to the cited sources, was in poor conditions.

It is a man between 60 and 70 years old who was dressed only in a swimsuit and who apparently had been in the water for a short time. For the moment, it is ruled out that he is a migrant who disappeared during his journey by boat, and the main hypothesis points to the fact that he was a bather. The Civil Guard took charge of the body and has opened an investigation to clarify what happened.
