PalmaThe National Police have arrested three people in Ciutadella de Menorca —including a father and son— accused of violently assaulting a man, shooting him in the face with a pellet gun, and threatening him with potentially dangerous breed dogs. As reported by the Superior Headquarters of the Police of the Balearic Islands, the events occurred in the early hours of Sunday to Monday, when several patrols from the Citizen Assistance Group were alerted to an assault outside a leisure venue in the municipality.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim inside a vehicle, with a bloodied face, open wounds on his face and an ear, and several embedded pellets. After being attended by health services, the young man recounted that the assault had begun with an argument inside the venue with one of the assailants, who had accused him of stealing medication. The dispute continued on the street, where the main assailant allegedly drew a pellet gun and fired up to five times at the victim's face. Shortly after, according to the police report, the alleged perpetrator's father and another man joined in, continuing the assault.

The young man explained that the father hit him on the head with a metal bar or object, while the other individual punched and kicked him. During the assault, the three men were allegedly accompanied by two dangerous breed dogs that allegedly tried to bite the victim. In parallel, another patrol located the suspects near the scene and intercepted them. Although they denied their involvement, they were arrested as alleged perpetrators of attempted homicide.

The officers also verified that the son had a valid restraining order against his father, for which reason he was also arrested for breach of sentence. During the arrest, he uttered insults and threats against the officers, caused damage to the police vehicle, and assaulted a police officer, who suffered a dislocated shoulder. The investigation remained open and allowed for the identification and arrest of a third involved party, subsequently located by the Judicial Police, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of assault.
