The majority of unions support the pact, which ends months of negotiations between the City Council and the Local Police
PalmaThe Palma City Council and the majority of Local Police unions have signed peace this Friday, after months of conflict with an agreement that foresees a salary improvement of close to 2,500 gross euros per month for the officers. The measure, which will mean an impact of 10 million euros for the municipal coffers, will have retroactive effects from January 1, 2026, as announced by the mayor, Jaime Martínez.
The agreement includes the review of the specific complement and the destination complement of the different categories of the corps to adapt the salaries to the operational reality and to recognize the dedication, availability, and responsibility of the local police. The corresponding amounts will be paid in the July payroll or, if not possible, in the August one.
1.5% increase for all municipal staff
The City Council will also apply the additional 1.5% increase to the July payroll, as foreseen by state regulations for all municipal staff. Furthermore, the agreement provides for a reorganization of positions to adapt them to the real needs of the service, the calling of a transfer competition, the modification of the command structure, and the promotion of internal advancement processes. The repeal of the agreement regulating the conditions of police officers in training will also be studied.
The unions CSIF, CCOO, UGT, SPPME, and ATAP participated in the meeting. The agreement received the support of all present organizations except ATAP, which abstained. Representing the City Council were the first deputy mayor, Javier Bonet; the general coordinator of Citizen Security, Jaume Pla; and the general coordinator of Public Function, Albert Abad.
