Water reserves fell to 43% in July, five points below the previous month.

PalmWater reserves in the Balearic Islands stood at 43% in July, five points below the previous month's record (48%) and three points lower than the percentage recorded a year ago (46%).

By island, Mallorca has gone from 50% to 46%; Menorca, from 42% to 40%; and Ibiza, from 34% to 29%, reflecting a general decline across the archipelago.

Regarding drought scenarios, all demand units (DU) have recorded a decrease in the index: Menorca, Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, El Pla, Palma-Alcudia, Tramuntana Nord, Tramuntana Sud, Ibiza, and Formentera. In this context, the DU Plan has entered an alert stage, highlighting a general worsening of the situation. Currently, only 1.6% of the territory (Formentera) remains in a normal state, while 88.2% is on pre-alert and 10.2% (El Plan) is on alert.

The overall index for the Hydrographic District stands at 0.366, a figure practically identical to that recorded a year ago (0.365), but lower than that of two years ago (0.460).

According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), July was considered very wet in the Balearic Islands and was the seventh wettest July since 1961. Total rainfall was low, with an average of 19.4 l/m² across the archipelago. By island, 22.9 l/m² was recorded in Mallorca, compared to the usual 5.6 l/m²; in Menorca 9.6 l/m², compared to 4.8 l/m²; Ibiza 6.5 l/m², compared to 3.0 l/m², and Formentera 12.0 l/m², compared to 2.5 l/m². The annual precipitation percentage stands at 102%, with Mallorca at 103%, Menorca at 104%, and the Pitiusas at 93%.

Finally, in terms of temperature, July was very warm across the islands, with anomalies of approximately +1°C compared to the climate average. According to forecasts, and taking into account the time of year and the current situation, bookings are expected to continue to decline during the month of August.
