The Balearic Islands receive 9.16 million international tourists until July, 1.8% more

Tourist spending reaches 12,301 million euros, 5.7% more than in the first seven months of 2025

PalmThe Balearic Islands have received 9,164,483 international tourists between January and July 2026, 1.8% more than during the first seven months of last year, according to data from the Frontur and Egatur surveys published this Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

During the same period, international tourists have spent 12,301 million euros in the Islands, 5.7% more than between January and July 2025.

The average spending per tourist has stood at 1,342 euros, 3.8% more than last year, while the average daily spending has been 230 euros, 5% more. The average stay has been 5.8 days, 1.2% less than in the first seven months of 2025.

July concentrates 2.57 million tourists

Only during the month of July, the Balearic Islands received 2,569,662 international tourists, 0.1% more than in the same month of 2025. This figure represents 22.3% of the total international tourists who arrived in Spain during the month.

The Islands were the main tourist destination in the State during July in terms of visitors. In this month, international tourists spent 4,145 million euros, 8.3% more than in July last year.

The average spending per tourist reached 1,613 euros, 8.2% more year-on-year. The average daily spending was 259 euros, 6.6% more, and the average trip duration stood at 6.2 days, 1.4% more than in July 2025.

Regarding the State as a whole, the Balearic Islands concentrated 22.8% of the total spending by international tourists during July, ahead of Catalonia, with 20.4%, and Andalusia, with 14.8%.

Catalonia leads the arrival of tourists until July

Between January and July, Catalonia has been the autonomous community that has received the most international tourists, with 11.9 million visitors, 2.9% more than in the same period in 2025.

The Balearic Islands are in second place, with almost 9.2 million tourists and an increase of 1.8%, while the Canary Islands are in third place, with 9 million visitors, 0.6% less.

Spain exceeds 58 million tourists

In Spain as a whole, the number of international tourists has exceeded 58.1 million between January and July, 4.6% more than in the same period in 2025.

In July alone, Spain received 11.5 million international tourists, 4.6% more than in the same month last year.

The United Kingdom was the main country of origin for visitors, with almost 2.2 million tourists, up 5.6%. France contributed nearly 1.6 million visitors, up 2.3%, and Germany, 1.2 million, also up 2.3%.

The spending of international tourists in Spain reached 18,218 million euros in July, 10.9% more than in the same month in 2025.

The average spending per tourist was 1,579 euros, up 5.9%, and the average daily spending grew by 3.7%, to 218 euros.

In the first seven months of the year, international tourist spending in Spain increased by 7.8%, to 82,054 million euros.

Regarding the main issuing markets by spending volume during July, the United Kingdom represents 16.7% of the total; Germany, 9.6% and France, 9%. The spending of British tourists increased by 4.8%; that of Germans, by 11.5%, and that of French, by 12.6%.
