PalmThe Government of the Balearic Islands will allocate 1.59 million euros in 2026 to a new call for aid for self-employed workers, known as "Cuota Cero" (Zero Quota), which subsidizes part of Social Security contributions during the first years of activity.

The measure allows for covering up to 100% of the reduced quota during the first two years of registration in the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) and 50% during the third year, with a maximum of 175 euros per month in this latter period. In the case of the first two years, the aid is adjusted to the limit of the current state reduced quota, set at up to 80 euros per month for the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years.

According to the Ministry of Business, Self-Employed Workers, and Energy, the aid can be applied to quotas accrued between March 1, 2024, and April 30, 2026. The call aims to facilitate the start of activity and support the consolidation of new business projects.

The minister of the sector, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, stated at a press conference that the initiative seeks to "facilitate the start of new business projects and offer more stability during the first years of activity," in a message of continuity with policies supporting self-employment.

Individuals residing in the Balearic Islands who have started their own business and are continuously registered in RETA or an alternative mutual society may access this aid. It also includes those who have not been registered as self-employed for the two years prior to starting their activity, as well as maritime professionals and licensed professionals who contribute through mutual societies.

Applications can be submitted electronically between May 10 and June 10, 2026. Aid will be granted on a strict first-come, first-served basis until the available budget is exhausted.
