The number of tourists continues to grow in the Balearic Islands: 6.6 million until June

The Islands have received 2.5% more international visitors than a year ago during the first semester, while spending reaches 8,157 million euros and stays continue to shorten

PalmaThe Balearic Islands have received 6,594,822 international tourists between January and June, 2.5% more than during the same period in 2025. The data from the Statistics of Tourist Movements at Borders (Frontur) and the Survey of Tourist Expenditure (Egatur), published this Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), confirm that the number of visitors continues to increase during the first half of the year.

In June alone, the Islands received 2,275,384 international tourists, 0.6% more than in the same month last year. The Archipelago was the main destination for foreign visitors in Spain, with 23.3% of the total arrivals, ahead of Catalonia (20.8%) and Andalusia (15.7%).

International tourists spent 8,157 million euros in the Balearic Islands during the first six months of the year, 4.5% more than in the same period in 2025. The average expenditure per visitor stood at 1,237 euros, 1.9% more than a year earlier, while daily expenditure increased by 4.2%, to 217 euros.

In contrast, the duration of stays continues to decrease. Between January and June, tourists spent an average of 5.7 days in the Balearic Islands, 2.2% less than during the first half of last year.

Regarding June exclusively, the expenditure of international visitors amounted to 2,726 million euros, 5.7% more than in the same month of 2025. Each tourist spent an average of 1,347 euros, 4.3% more, and daily expenditure increased by 6.4%. The average trip duration, on the other hand, decreased again to 5.1 days, 2% less than a year earlier.

Rest of Spain

Across the State, Spain received nearly 46.6 million international tourists during the first semester, 4.6% more than in the same period of 2025. In June, the number of foreign visitors reached 9.7 million, 2.9% more than a year earlier.

The United Kingdom continued to be the main issuing market for tourists, both in June and in the year's cumulative total, with more than 9.3 million visitors during the first semester (+4.3%). Germany registered almost 5.7 million tourists (-1.1%) and France exceeded 5.6 million (+1%).

The spending of international tourists in Spain also continued to increase. Between January and June, it reached 63,836 million euros, 7% more than during the same period last year. During June, the Balearic Islands concentrated 21.8% of all international tourist spending registered in the State.
