The Siroco restaurant closes its doors after more than 60 years of history in Portocristo.
According to those responsible, "this closure comes sooner than we would have liked, motivated by personal circumstances that invite us to pause, take care of ourselves, and look forward with hope."
ManacorThe well-known Siroco restaurant in Portocristo has announced that it will close its doors on October 12th, thus ending a history that began in the early 1960s and has made it a landmark for several generations. "Today we share news that fills us with emotion and sadness in equal measure," they explained in a statement released on their social media.
Founded by Marcos Caldentey and managed for years with dedication and love by Joan Bennàssar, Siroco has been much more than a simple restaurant. "It has been a meeting place, a safe corner where family, friends, and customers have shared unforgettable moments," between after-dinner conversations, laughter, and celebrations, which have remained etched in the collective memory.
As those responsible explained, "this closure comes sooner than we would have liked, motivated by personal circumstances that invite us to stop, take care of ourselves, and look forward with hope." However, they expressed their deep gratitude to all the people who were part of this journey, emphasizing that the bonds and memories created in this space "will remain forever in the memories and hearts of everyone."
Those responsible also wanted to thank "customers, friends, employees, and families" who have brought Siroco to life day after day. Chef Isabel Caldentey recalls that Siroco "opened in 1960 with my godmother and father, Marcos Caldentey Amengual," followed by her mother and Joan Bennàssar. "It's with great sadness to say goodbye to everyone who has been with us over the years; more than just customers, many are now family. I'm very grateful for the people I hold in my heart."
Caldentey also wanted to remember the Rubí family, owners of the property, "who have seen my sister and me grow up, and I love them."
