PalmaThe Llibres Colom bookstore in Palma will close its doors at the end of October after 61 years of history. The establishment, located at Plaça dels Patins, has not found anyone to take over before the retirement of its manager, Marian Colom.

The business opened in 1965 under the name Esago, by the hand of Vicenç Colom. Over the decades, it has become one of the most iconic bookstores in the city, with a generalist catalog of books in Catalan and Spanish.

The closure is in addition to that of Literanta, which lowered its shutters last June after two decades of activity, while Embat has found a new owner.
