Journalism, also present at Acampallengua
Successful participation in the journalism workshop organized by ARA Balears
PalmARA Balears has actively participated in l'Acampallengua 2026. In addition to the special elaborated this weekend (which has been distributed at all the key points), this newspaper has also organized a journalism workshop, which has been a success in terms of participation, and Aina Vidal, one of the journalists from this media outlet, has participated in the roundtable discussion 'Journalism in debate'.
About twenty young people approached the ARA Balears stand to participate in the journalism workshop organized by this newspaper, which lasted about two hours. In the first part, the director, Jaume Perelló explained the keys to the ARA Balears model, its history and main characteristics, and they discussed the current state of journalism and the journalistic world.
The second part of the talk was the turn of the young participants, who shared the way they get informed, how they currently access information, and what interests them most.
One of the key points of this part of the workshop was social media. The young people appreciated that the media also "think of them" and use social media as a new channel of information. With this workshop, it has become clear that the myth that young people are not interested or do not care about anything is completely false. There are many young people concerned about the current situation, and in the case of the Balearic Islands, the specific issues are housing, language, and culture.
Finally, raffles were held among the participants for oil cookies from Artà and cheeses from Campos, who collaborated with the workshop.
At 4:30 PM, the Alcover Institution hosted the roundtable 'Journalism in Debate' in which Margalida Solivellas, Mercé Pinya, and Aina Vidal, a journalist from ARA Balears, participated.
During the talk, they discussed the current journalistic challenges and the journalistic world, the power of social media, and the importance of communication media to combat fake news and disinformation. The audience, in addition to filling the room, also had great participation.
