Rosalía's response to Mallorcan Miguel Adrover regarding the Palestine controversy
The Mallorcan refused to dress her because she had not supported Palestine.
PalmRosalía explained in a message on social media this Wednesday that not having spoken out about Palestine "doesn't mean at all that I don't condemn what's happening," but she regrets that "the blame should be directed upwards (towards those who make decisions and have the power to act)."
The singer made these statements after Mallorcan designer Miguel Adrover announced that he refused to create a costume for her, despite his admiration for her work, because she has not spoken out about Palestine. Adrover's team responded: "We're sorry, but Miguel doesn't work with any artist who hasn't publicly shown their support for Palestine. "I want to thank the people who are murdered, and those who should be stopping this don't do so."
After acknowledging that she has followed "with great sadness what has happened and been said in recent days," the Catalan singer has pointed out that she does not believe that "attacking and shaming each other is the best way to move forward in the fight for the freedom of Palestine."
The singer also indicates that she accepts that her message "will be incomplete and imperfect, but it is my truth and it is written with the best intentions." "Unfortunately, this text is not and will not be enough in a context of extreme violence like the one we are experiencing, that is why I wanted to end the text with profound respect and gratitude to the people who really act, such as NGOs, activists, volunteers, healthcare workers, cooperatives, associations and journalists who dedicate their lives to helping this cause."
Rosalía has always expressed her passion for fashion and has been and is an ambassador for several international brands, in addition to having collaborated with designers such as Colom Spain. At the last Met Gala, she wore a Balmain design, made exclusively for her.
Miguel Adrover (Mallorca, 1965) was awarded the 2018 National Fashion Design Award by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, after revolutionizing the fashion world in the 1990s with his creations.
