PalmaActive, healthy and committed young people. This is the challenge that the Consell de Mallorca sets for the island's youth and that it develops through various programs that combine mental health, creativity, nature, and new opportunities. With this commitment, the institution wants to respond to the real concerns of young people and offer them useful tools for their day-to-day lives, from emotional well-being to personal expression or quality leisure time. In the words of the president of the Consell, Llorenç Galmés, “we have not only the obligation, but the firm will to support our young people and contribute to their integral growth. It is, without a doubt, the best investment we can make for Mallorca: betting on the talent, well-being, and development of the capacities of our young people”.

Along these lines, this year the institution has wanted to support Acampallengua with a record financial contribution in its history, as it is an event that, after many years, has consolidated itself as a benchmark in the claim of the importance of its own culture and language and that, moreover, has a program of high-quality activities and concerts, which promote the dynamism and meeting among the young people of Mallorca.

Mental health: understanding what is happening to us

Mental health is increasingly present in our society, and it's no coincidence. That's why the Council has launched the 'Dive into Your Emotions' cycle, a space designed for young people to speak clearly about what they feel, without filters or taboos.

The sessions deal with very present topics today: self-esteem, relationships, academic pressure, screen use, and body image. More delicate issues are also addressed, such as addictions or suicide, with the aim of preventing and, above all, making it understood that asking for help is key. Furthermore, the program involves families and professionals, because emotional well-being is everyone's business. Young people and interested families still have time to enjoy some of the program's events: on April 15th, body image will be discussed, on May 20th, substance use and other addictions, and on June 17th, self-harm and suicide.

In parallel, the program Flip Up: give your emotions a twist has established itself as one of the main direct intervention tools in educational centers, and has already reached more than 2,000 vocational training students. This initiative brings mental health directly to classrooms through experiential, participatory workshops adapted to the reality of young people. The sessions take place during class hours and with the class group, which makes it possible to normalize emotional work as another part of the educational process and strengthen group cohesion.

Creativity: say what you think through art

If you have things to say, the Joves Talents awards are an opportunity to do so. This new initiative has wanted to give a voice to young creators from Mallorca and turn art into a form of expression and also of connection with others. Young people between 18 and 30 years old have submitted (the call closed on April 3rd) in disciplines such as photography, painting, design, audiovisual, and writing. With economic prizes and visibility for the projects, the proposal encourages transforming ideas, emotions, and experiences into artistic creations. All, with a clear common thread: emotional well-being.

Nature: disconnect to reconnect

In line with the priority of “healthy leisure” that the president of the Council, Llorenç Galmés, has claimed on more than one occasion, various programs aimed at connecting young people with nature have also been launched. For those who want to enjoy it right now, the Joves a la Serra-spring 2026 program offers a different experience: breaking away from routine and spending a few days in a unique space, the Tramuntana mountain range.

The stays, at the Pont Romà de Pollença refuge, combine excursions, group activities, and learning about the heritage of the Tramuntana mountain range. They are designed for young people aged 9 to 17 and include everything: transport, accommodation, and food. A way to make new friends, disconnect from screens, and connect with the environment. Performances with dozens of participants have also been activated in the Joves a la Neu, Multiaventures, Jacobean route, and Camí de Cavalls programs. All combine physical activity, nature, and group coexistence, and promote healthy lifestyle habits, strengthen autonomy and confidence, and generate new relationships in environments away from screens.

More opportunities: support from municipalities

The entire strategy of the Council with young people goes through the municipalities, the axis that must structure any public policy. For this reason, the entity has opened a new line of aid of 650,000 euros intended for town councils so that they can promote projects for the young people of their municipalities.

This translates into more activities, workshops, information services, prevention campaigns, and initiatives to help with aspects such as employment or emancipation. Camps can also be organized and local youth plans updated, with the aim that opportunities reach all corners of the island.
