PalmWhat would happen if Balearic fables and folklore were transformed into a dark universe, full of witches, giants, and demons? This is the premise of Pork Death, a role-playing game created by illustrator and designer Jaume Mayans. It is a game old-school based on the system of Mörk Borg and designed for two to six players, with games lasting between two and five hours.

The story takes place in The Island, a fantasy world that stands on three legendary pillars. But two have already fallen, and a sense of unease fills the air, as explained in the game's premise. porks, led by King Pork, have taken control and rule with an iron fist. Among their decrees, one unforgivable one: the banning of sobrasada, now a contraband commodity.

The game uses elements from the popular culture of the Islands. The great spider Balanguera and his thirty-three allies, the Moires, constantly weave the destiny of The Island, and announce the end of the world. And, in the meantime, players will have to survive a hostile environment filled with mythological creatures, reinterpreted through very personal art—reminiscent of Mike Mignola's—and carefully curated down to the last detail.

The team of Pork Death is preparing a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter And in the meantime, they have set up a website where a lot of material can already be consulted. For the moment, they have created an online character generator and two adventures are available, among other downloadable content.

What is a role-playing game?

A role-playing game is an activity in which participants take on the role of different characters and collectively build an adventure within a fictional world. Typically, one of the players assumes the role of game master, in charge of describing the environment and creating situations, while the rest take on the role of player characters. Modern role-playing games emerged in the mid-1970s, when Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson created Dungeons & Dragons, considered the starting point of the genre.
