Educació launches a public speaking competition to improve young people's communication skills.
The goal is for young people to gain confidence in public speaking and, at the same time, improve their reading comprehension.

PalmThe Balearic Islands will launch a new public speaking competition with the aim of improving the communication and reading skills of secondary school, high school, and vocational training students during the 2025-2026 academic year. The initiative aims to promote confidence and clarity in oral expression, a skill that the Regional Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, considers "one of the major outstanding issues in the Balearic education system."
To promote the project, Vera traveled to Luxembourg accompanied by Antoni Planas, Academic Director of Higher Artistic Education of the Balearic Islands (EASIB), where he met with Bárbara Pastor, a Spanish and Latin teacher at the European School and a specialist in d. Pastor is the author of the book Speak well in public with the Oratoga method She has led several public speaking competitions using a methodology based on dialogue and the active participation of young people. She will direct the competition and train teachers at participating schools, providing them with tools and resources to help students develop their skills optimally. The goal is for young people to gain confidence in public speaking and, at the same time, improve their reading comprehension.
Culture of Effort
During his stay in Luxembourg, the Minister also visited the European School and participated in the conference The challenges of education, organized by the Catalan Center, which addressed key issues regarding the future of education. According to Vera, the competition not only adds value to the education system, but also represents "a further step toward excellence, talent, and a culture of effort." With this initiative, the Balearic Islands are committed to recovering the art of public speaking and equipping students with an essential skill for their academic and professional future.
