PalmaThe Superior School of Dramatic Art of the Balearic Islands (ESADIB) and the Principal Theatre of Palma will host the 1st Theoretical-Practical Research Conference on body expression in performer training on November 6th and 7th. The initiative aims to foster artistic and pedagogical research and facilitate the exchange of experiences among professionals in the performing arts and higher education.

The conference is an initiative of the Body Expression Research Forum (FIEC), in collaboration with ESADIB, the Principal Theatre of Palma, and the Directorate General for Universities, Research and Higher Artistic Education. The meeting is born with the desire to create a space for debate on teaching methodologies and research processes linked to movement and body expression. The program proposes to delve into the body as a tool for creation, communication, and stage research, as well as to explore new perspectives in the training of performers. During the two days, participants will be able to share knowledge, experiences, and methodologies through the combination of theoretical reflection and artistic practice.

Research network

The Body Expression Research Forum was launched during the 2023-2024 academic year to create a meeting space for teachers specialized in body expression and movement from different higher schools of dramatic art in the State. Since then, the forum has been working on the exchange of teaching methodologies and experiences, in addition to pedagogical and artistic innovation. One of its lines of research is research based on artistic practice, known as Practice-as-Research.

Among the members of the FIEC is Maite Villar, a professor at ESADIB, who participates in this collective project to foster the connection between the Balearic center and other higher schools of dramatic art. The sessions will take place at the facilities of ESADIB and the Teatre Principal of Palma, which will host various activities. The organization has announced that it will soon share more information about the invited professionals and the complete program of the meeting.
