PalmaThe 0-3 Network and the unions CCOO, UGT, and STEI have publicly denounced that in subsidized nursery schools, educators are "habitually obliged" to undertake tasks of cleaning classrooms and bathrooms, maintenance, and administration, and even to cook and prepare meals for the dining hall. In a statement, the entities have assured that an incident report compiled from complaints by workers in the sector demonstrates that numerous centers "systematically fail to comply" with the directives of the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, they have lamented that in nursery schools, non-compliance with ratios occurs during the summer months and a "continuous violation of labor and pay rights."

They have also denounced a "flagrant breach" of the official calendar and a cutback in pedagogical preparation due to the advancement of the start of the school year before September 10. The Department of Education had set this date to ensure that educators had days to organize spaces, prepare programs, and coordinate. "Opening earlier deprives professionals of this essential time," they stressed.

They request the intervention of Education

The 0-3 Network and the unions have formally forwarded these incidents and the list of centers to the Department of Education, to which they have demanded that it has the duty to "monitor and act" and to prevent public funds from "serving to maintain centers that violate regulations". "If 0-3 is education and is financed with public money, the Department of Education cannot allow these non-compliances. We demand that the regulations be met, monitored, and respected", they have demanded. Therefore, they have requested immediate and ex officio action from Educational Inspection to verify compliance with ratios, the Decree of minimums, staff qualifications, and the official school calendar.

They have also requested that public funds be conditional on compliance with all regulations, that it be guaranteed that educators do not have to perform cleaning or cooking tasks, and that they have sufficient non-teaching hours to develop educational projects. Likewise, they have proposed to promote a specific formal negotiation table to respond to workers subject to the state agreement for early childhood education. Finally, they have reiterated the demand that the group has been defending for months to promote an autonomous 0-3 agreement that guarantees the improvement and homogenization of working conditions.
