Miquel Roldán takes sick leave and will avoid (for now) the Education medical exam.

This Monday, the Joint Committee authorized its evaluation, with the majority vote of the unions and the support of the Administration.

PalmThe Joint Working Group has authorized teacher Miquel Roldán, convicted of repeated harassment of a minor, to undergo a psychological evaluation to determine his suitability to teach. The proposal received favorable votes from all seven representatives of the Administration and all unions, with the exception of UOB and USO, who abstained, and SIAU, who voted against. According to ARA Baleares, through union sources, the next step is for the Ministry of Education to formally summon Roldán to begin the evaluation process, but he is not obliged to accept. However, union sources also confirm that the teacher took medical leave this morning. Therefore, from that moment on, his health status will be the responsibility of Social Security, and the Ministry's Occupational Risks Department will lose its jurisdiction while the process is ongoing. Roldán will not be required to attend the evaluation.

Meanwhile, the families of students at the Maria Antònia Salvà Primary School in Son Sardina are continuing their strike and are refusing to send their children to school in protest of the teacher's return to the school. Roldán had been assigned as a substitute despite his sentence, which has generated a strong public response. Educació has sent a new teacher to take over the sixth-grade tutoring duties, leaving Roldán to perform support duties, a decision the families have deemed insufficient.

More than 90 family associations and hundreds of teachers from Mallorca have shown their support for the protest by signing the manifesto promoted by FAPA Mallorca. The document demands the "immediate" removal of Roldán from any school with minors and urges the Ministry of Education and the relevant authorities to promote legal reforms that would prevent individuals convicted of harassment from teaching.
