PalmaUOB Ensenyament has demanded the resignation of the Director General of Teaching Staff, Joana Maria Cabrer, for her management of the Sectoral Table of Education (MSE). In a statement, the union assures that "the state in which the Sectoral Table of Education currently finds itself is deplorable" and states that, during the last session convened, on June 1, it became clear that the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Universities "give no value to the Table, to the contributions and demands of the unions and, by extension, to the demands of the workers".

According to UOB Ensenyament, "the undignified and insulting actions of some members of the Ministry incommoded and alarmed" its representatives. The union assures that the Administration "criticized the unions for making long contributions and for discussing some aspects of the drafts, while also uttering disguised murmurs and eye-rolls".

Criticism of the body's functioning

In the statement, UOB states that "it has become clear that the Administration does not consider the MSE as a negotiation space, but as a mere information body and a formality that must be formally maintained" and maintains that the Ministry convened the meeting "knowing that each and every one of the unions' contributions would be ignored". According to the union, "the value the Ministry places on the MSE is nil" and, furthermore, "it is dedicated to belittling the work of the unions that have taken the trouble to work on the documents to be negotiated".

UOB considers it "unacceptable" that the head of the Sectoral Table, Joana Maria Cabrer, "does not intervene to rectify this situation". Likewise, it argues that "the value that the MSE has for UOB Ensenyament is immense" and deeply regrets that this negotiating space "functions in such a regrettable way".

Finally, the union also "deplores the conduct of some Administration representatives, unbecoming of professionals" and, "given Ms. Cabrer's incompetence in making the MSE function optimally", demands her resignation.
