Andreu Veny released with restraining order against Father Novella in Porreres

The events allegedly took place last Monday at the San Felipe oratory.

PalmThe on-call judge at Manacor Court No. 3 has ordered Andreu Veny to be released with a restraining order after taking his statement this Thursday. Veny is being investigated for alleged burglary, attempted burglary, and threats against the rector of the San Felipe Neri oratory in Porreres, Francesc Novella.

The incident reportedly took place last Monday at the Sant Felip oratory itself when Andreu Veny showed up and, for reasons that have not been disclosed, there was an incident with Father Francesc Novella, the temple manager.

In this regard, according to the news that broke this Thursday Mallorca DiaryVeny had reported being treated with force. Francesc Novella also filed a complaint with the Civil Guard in Campos, who summoned Veny to testify, and he was arrested. He spent the night at the barracks and was taken into custody this morning in Manacor.

After hearing the parties, the judge decided not to order him into pretrial detention, but instead imposed a restraining order on Veny and Novella, pending the continuation of the judicial proceedings. The case is still under investigation, and authorities have not ruled out further action depending on the progress of the investigation.

Veny professed his vows in June 2012 at the Congregation of the Oratory of San Felipe Neri in Porreres, as we can see in the image above with Francesc Novella. Subsequently, disagreements began between the two until the Bishopric had to intervene to stop the constant fighting between the priest of San Felipe and Veny, who was granted lay status.
