Crisis in Ceuta: the PP demands that the Spanish government delegate appear before Parliament

PalmaPresident Marga Prohens insisted this Monday on demanding that the Spanish government provide the report on the risk of migrant arrivals to the Peninsula and the Islands that Pedro Sánchez mentioned in Congress. After the party's parliamentary days, the PP registered a request for the appearance of the Spanish government delegate in the Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, to explain what he knows about this situation.

Last Friday, the president made an institutional declaration in which she showed "deep concern" after Sánchez claimed he had a report that warned of a high risk of irregular migrant arrivals to the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The same day, she said, she made a formal request to the Spanish executive to provide her with information regarding these alerts and the measures adopted in this regard, but she has yet to receive a response. "The obligation of the government of Spain is to inform the Government and take measures to protect our borders," she insisted.

In the same vein, she remarked that a migration crisis exists in the Islands and asserted that the arrivals of small boats "not only continue, but are growing." This weekend, more than one hundred people arrived at the coasts of the Islands. Furthermore, two people have been found dead at sea. This situation, she said, "generates concern" among citizens that the PP shares. "We do not know who is coming, from where, how many, and why," she continued, and regretted not receiving more information.
