PalmThe Llubí Town Council unanimously approved an emergency motion from the governing team expressing the municipality's support for the livestock farms directly affected by the permanent closure of the Agama dairy plant and, more generally, for the agricultural and livestock sector. The document explains that of the three dairy farms affected by the factory's closure, one is located in Llubí. This is the Son Bernat dairy farm, which the Llubí Town Council has chosen to support. The motion also urges the Balearic Islands Government "to guarantee the continuity of productive activity in the dairy sector and maintain the production and marketing of milk on the island of Mallorca as a fundamental product for food sovereignty."

On the other hand, they urge the Government and the Ministry "to grant financial viability to the former dairy plant or, if necessary, to implement the necessary alternatives that allow the sector's continuity, through funds linked to the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS)."

The mayor of Llubí, Magdalena Perelló, explains that "today it is difficult to accept that the Mallorcan dairy sector is on the verge of disappearing when the Administration constantly talks about food sovereignty, promoting local products, and supporting the primary sector." "It is even less understandable when we consider the consumption of milk and dairy products on an island of almost one million inhabitants, with an extensive hotel infrastructure that attracts more than thirteen million tourists a year." "How is it possible," she asks, "that our dairies cannot survive in a market that consumes millions of liters a year?" The motion states that "milk is undoubtedly an essential product, a basic necessity, and declares that Mallorca cannot do without the production of basic foodstuffs within the framework of its potential food sovereignty." Finally, the motion also agrees to urge the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment to provide economic and effective support to the directly affected livestock farms (transport, alternatives, etc.) to urgently sell their production during these initial months before a definitive solution is found.
