Man arrested in Palma after attempting to steal ham from a store and threatening staff with a knife
The man fled the store, but was located shortly afterwards by the National Police with the knife in his hand.
PalmNational Police officers have arrested a man in Palma as the suspected perpetrator of a violent robbery, after he attempted to steal several items from a store and threatened staff with a knife. The incident occurred on Saturday at midday, when the 091 emergency service received a call alerting them that an individual had attempted to rob a store and had intimidated a female employee with a knife. By the time the Citizen Assistance Group patrol arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled. Thanks to the description provided by witnesses, officers began a search of the area and, shortly afterward, located a man who perfectly matched the description near the former Palma prison. The suspect was carrying a knife, which was confiscated during the police intervention.
Simultaneously, an undercover patrol went to the affected establishment, where a manager explained that the man had tried to leave the premises without paying for half a dozen packs of ham. When confronted, the employee managed to recover the items, but was then threatened with a knife. To protect herself, she placed a shopping cart between the man and the suspect, allowing him to flee.
With all the information gathered, the National Police proceeded to arrest the man as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with violence.
