Prohens shoots against Sánchez and calls citizens to demonstrate for Ceuta

PalmaThe President of the Government, Marga Prohens, joins the PP's state war against Pedro Sánchez. In a media briefing, she encouraged the citizens of the Balearic Islands to participate in the demonstration called for this Wednesday in support of Ceuta, and accused the Spanish government of "hiding information" about the massive entry of migrants into the autonomous city.

The president defended the protest called by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and, despite criticizing the Spanish president, assured that "it's not about colors or ideologies." In this regard, she referred to information indicating a National Police report attributing the massive entry of migrants into Ceuta to Moroccan security forces. "It suggests it was not a migratory issue, but an attack on our borders and the territorial integrity of Spain," she considered.

For his part, the PP spokesperson in Parliament, Sebastià Sagreras, stated that "if Sánchez continues to occupy Moncloa, what happened in Ceuta could happen in the Balearic Islands." Meanwhile, the Vox spokesperson, Manuela Cañadas, denounced that Spain has suffered "an invasion": "Morocco has attacked Spain, and Spain has the right and the obligation to defend itself." Thus, the spokesperson considered the Spanish president "the enemy of Spain."

The left denounces the politicization of the protest

For their part, the PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca, Més per Menorca, and the Unides Podem deputy have announced at a press conference that they will not join this protest because they consider it to be politicized. They also explained that the town councils controlled by the left will also not join. "I have not received any argument from the FEMP about why these protests are necessary," said the leader of MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia: "Let the parties call the partisan protests." "The demonstration in Ceuta is a clumsy instrumentalization by the PP, which sees it as an element to erode the government of Spain," added Josep Castells (Més per Menorca). From the PSIB, Marc Pons criticized that the PP uses the FEMP "as an instrument for its interests" and to "question the government of Spain".
