Prohens threatens the PSIB with elections: "They would tremble"
Negueruela responds that he is not "afraid" of new elections: "He has this blocked."
PalmThe President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, issued a threat to the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) on Tuesday. After the Socialist spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, referred to the tension between the PP (People's Party) and Vox in the Balearic Parliament, Prohens suggested that bringing forward elections was a possibility. "They would tremble if I called them," she warned. Negueruela retorted: "Call elections, because you have this blocked; we are not afraid of the ballot box." On the Socialist benches, some deputies banged their seats, shouting "elections!" The exchange of recriminations occurred after the Socialist deputy criticized Prohens for the "secret office" agreements that Vox spokesperson Manuela Cañadas revealed during her speech.
Regarding the Strategic Projects Law agreed upon by the PP and Vox, which allows construction in areas where housing was previously prohibited, Negueruela insinuated that the pact between these parties is aimed at private gain. Prohens responded to this barb by asserting that it is the PSIB that fears the public disclosure of its "private conversations" with the far-right party. While Negueruela spoke of a legislative deadlock, insisting that the government is struggling to pass budgets, is not offering significant solutions to the housing crisis, and has no major projects underway, Prohens listed the laws passed in the Balearic Parliament despite the minority government, including two budgets. "If this is paralysis, let [Pedro] Sánchez come and see it," she said, referring to the Spanish Prime Minister.
