MontuïriThe municipality of Montuïri is in mourning after the death of a six-year-old boy who was accidentally run over on Saturday afternoon at the Son Comelles estate, between Sant Joan and Vilafranca. The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when a vehicle reversing struck the child, who was standing behind the car without the driver noticing. A pediatrician on the property immediately began CPR, but the SAMU 061 emergency medical services, who arrived along with the Civil Guard and the Montuïri Local Police, were unable to save his life. According to the mayor of the municipality, Toni Miralles, the town is "devastated" and the news caused moments of "great sadness" among the residents. The boy did not live in Montuïri and attended school in the city. The driver involved is reportedly a friend of the boy's parents. A minute of silence will also be observed this Monday at 11:00 a.m. in front of City Hall to remember the victim.
